Yesterday's Nightclub
Yesterday's nightclub lies just off a main road in Alderley Edge.
It was actually known as The Edge when it closed, It had also been called
Lizard, The Purple Door and Millenium.
It became famous in the 90's when it was known as Yesterday's and Millenium
and it attracted star footballers and TV celebrities.
It was bought by Absolute Leisure and in March 2000 became the areas first
Lap dancing club, launching a lap dancing evening which became a regular
weekday fixture known as the Purple Door.
The club closed for the last time in 2004 and there were plans to turn it
into housing. This has not happened and the site lies in a very sorry state.
As well as the main building there lies a house at the back, with it's own
pool and granny flat. The gardens slope down to a lake.
The club itself has numerous bars including a basement bar with a baby grand
piano, which is still there.
There was a fountain out the front which had goldfish living in it when the
club was thriving, and there is a pond out the back
There are some beautiful architectural features in this building, most of
them hidden from view when it was a club.
If the economy improves there may still be hope for this building, but as
the years go by it seems more amore likely that it will be yet another
impressive building left to turn to dust.
What the building looked like when it was Lizard:
